As of Tuesday I have eleven and a half chapters completed. We’re going away this weekend and I won’t have much time for writing in the next couple of days, so I’m pounding out what I can. At this point I don’t think I’ll have all of the first book written before November 1st rolls around, but I’ll at least be most of the way there.
I’ve been reading as much as I can in my spare time, mostly in my genre but with a few offerings outside of it. Being a homemaker with my first child still in the womb, it’s been pretty easy to find said spare time. I know that’s all going to change come February, so for now I’m relishing the moments.
Last week I wrote about how I enjoyed writing at Starbucks. As soon as I left there, with time on my hands and the itch to write still in my fingers, I headed to my local library. The minute I settled in at the table I knew I had found my new favorite place to write. The quite atmosphere, the rows upon rows of books, the bright, open, clean space…the only thing missing was the smell of coffee brewing! So while I won’t completely give up my coffee shop stops, I have a feeling that I’m going to be spending more time at the library in the next number of months than I normally would.
Which is good, because that should eliminate the possibility of me keeping my books past their due date. 🙂
No man should be an island, though, and I confess that I am looking forward to the next Writer’s Block, where I can spend time with fellow writers while we do what we love – writing.
So that’s my update on prep as of today. Next Wednesday is the last day of prep before NaNoWriMo officially begins on Thursday. I’m both excited and nervous. Nervous because I have some mighty lofty goals I’m trying to reach – excited because I genuinely enjoy attempting to get to the 50,000 word goal in only thirty days. So here’s to the next seven days in getting ready for the big event.
Are you participating in NaNoWriMo 2018? What do you do to prepare?
