The Stats

Title: When Breaks the Dawn (The Canadian West Series)
Author: Janette Oke
Publisher/Year: Bethany House 1986
Genre: Christian Romance Fiction

Summary/Thoughts

The third installment in the Canadian West series. Elizabeth Delaney is adjusting to life in the North now that she has made it through her first winter and spring has returned. The pronouncement that she can start a school for the village children fills her with excitement, but along the journey of teaching there are setbacks and disappointments, both in the school and personally, that has Elizabeth wondering if God is even hearing her prayers.

I very much enjoyed this third installment. It’s heartfelt, realistic, and thought-provoking. Elizabeth’s personal struggles are very real, and the ending was not at all what I expected. I’m looking forward to the fourth and final book in the series.

What good books are you reading this New Year?
