If isn’t already obvious, I’m pretty big on setting goals. I don’t always accomplish what I set out to do, but I try. And compared to how I used to live (by the seat of my pants and never accomplishing anything), it’s been all the difference.
Yesterday I heard a quote that has stuck with me and made me even more convinced that goals and plans to achieve those goals are golden:
“Do today what others won’t so that tomorrow you can do what others can’t.”
I don’t know who to attribute this to because an online search shows a couple different variations of the quote, one of which is apparently by Jerry Rice. The origin aside, there’s a good bit of motivation in those words.
Developing skills, furthering talent, acquiring new abilities all takes time, work, and persistence. Why put off until tomorrow what you can do today? Why wait to develop, learn, grow, accomplish, achieve, conquer? It’s true: tomorrow is not guaranteed, you only have today. And if you put the work in today, then you can begin to reap the benefits tomorrow.
What goals can you start working at today? What motivates you to go after your dreams?
